Conditions that you must comply with

 

In order for it to be valid, a foreign driving license must be registered with the Road Traffic Department within 3 months following your arrival in Gabon. 

Documents to be provided:

A notarised photocopy of both sides of your driving license; 2 official passport photos in black and white (not taken in a photo booth); A photocopy of your residency permit.

 

Registration of vehicles


For a second-hand vehicle bought in Gabon: 

The vehicle must be registered in Gabon. To obtain your number plate, go to Centre Auto Bilan at Bord de Mer with the log book of the vehicle. Log books are delivered at the Gouvernorat, also at Bord de Mer. 


Documents to be provided to obtain a Gabonese vehicle log book:

  • For a second-hand vehicle bought in Gabon:
  • The original, crossed out vehicle log book;
  • The original vehicle sale certificate;
  • The notarised identity document of the buyer and of the seller;
  • An official stamp of 500 CFA francs;
  • ·3,000 CFA francs for the duty payable to the Treasury;
  • 3,000 CFA francs for fee payable to the Gouvernorat.



For an imported vehicle:

  • The original vehicle log book;
  • A copy of the insurance certificate;
  • The original certificate of registration; An official stamp of 500 CFA francs;
  • 3,000 CFA francs for the duty payable to the Treasury;
  • 3,000 CFA francs for fee payable to the Gouvernorat.


All vehicles must undergo an MOT which is valid for one year.
